Carolyn Scott-Jeffs, a successful writer and dramaturg, and lecturer in Creative Writing, will help you develop a script from first idea to submission. This can become your ‘calling card script’ – the script that gets you noticed within the industry and showcases what you can do. The mentoring will last across the year with a number of sessions taking place at agreed key points.
The programme is open to all current undergraduate, postgraduate and research students at Loughborough University, including London students. It does not matter what course or subject you are studying. There are a maximum of two places available on the programme.
To apply, please complete the short online application form. As part of this, you will need to outline why you would like to be mentored (in 350 words) and include a 500-word synopsis of the idea you want to develop into a script. The deadline to apply is Sunday 19 January 2025.
The mentoring programme will run from January to July 2025. There will be an opportunity for 3-5 meetings with Carolyn, either in person or online. You will develop your idea and write a first draft or a long outline of your script, which you will submit to Carolyn for feedback. You can then use this feedback to work on further drafts to submit for feedback. You must be able to commit to meeting deadlines for submitting work to Carolyn and to the meetings to benefit from this programme.
We want this opportunity to be accessible to all students. If you would like to discuss any accessibility issues in advance of applying or to discuss how the opportunity can be made inclusive for you, please email LUArts@lboro.ac.uk or call 01509 222948.
You can find more information on the LU Arts website.
