Reminder: Applications for the 2025 Teaching Best Practice Awards and Teaching Innovation Awards are open

The deadline for submissions for our Teaching Awards is 5pm, 5 March 2025.

Our Teaching Best Practice Awards have been created to celebrate our excellent teaching at Loughborough University and recognise our colleagues for their continued efforts to innovate and inspire our students.

This award aims to capture outstanding examples of teaching happening at Loughborough, to honour those who have delivered on these activities and to help seed the ideas across our community.

See examples of previous winners and case studies.

Our Teaching Innovation Awards (TIAs) support innovation which positively impacts students’ academic experience and enhances the teaching quality at Loughborough University.

As new developments appear across both campuses, there may be initiatives you wish to research or implement to support staff or students to advance in terms of teaching environments, uses of technology or approaches to learning.

The Teaching Innovation Award provide funds up to a maximum of £2,500 or a Summer Placement Student for up to eight weeks.

This year the panel are seeking applications that equip our students with skills for their future, this could, for example, be through integrating real-world challenges into the curriculum, teaching to embed an entrepreneurial mindset, or designing activities to motivate students to explore and critically engage with the world around them.

Professor Sam Grogan, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience commented: “I am excited to endorse this year's Teaching Awards, celebrating educators who integrate real-world challenges, foster entrepreneurial mindsets, and nurture curiosity. By equipping students with future-ready skills, we prepare them to be tomorrow's leaders and innovators.

“In support of developing, sharing and celebrating innovative practice at Loughborough, I encourage colleagues to apply for a Teaching Award. Applying for an award is a great learning experience in itself – it offers a useful opportunity to reflect on personal practices and ideas with a view to making these count towards future career aspirations.”

If you are interested in applying for an award we recommended you speak to colleagues in the Enhanced Academic Practice team when compiling your application - please contact Samantha Chester or Sarah Bamforth.
