Masterclass on the Contemporary Clarinet with Luca Luciano

About this event

Woodwind players, musicians and composers are invited to join this one-off masterclass with the composer and international soloist Luca Luciano.

This is part of a series of events that Luciano will do thanks to his endorsement by D’Addario Woodwinds. This educational event is informed by his ongoing research on extended techniques, unconventional sound production, sound effects (and their application in composed or improvised music) and new music for solo clarinet.

The event is aimed at classical and non-classical (jazz, world music, etc.) clarinet players and musicians/composers with an interest in the potential of the instrument. The aim is to inspire young musicians, familiarise you with these techniques and enhance your knowledge to help you play/compose contemporary music for clarinet.

Luciano will start by performing some music for solo clarinet. He will then explain and demonstrate these contemporary techniques to show the full potential of the instrument.

The masterclass will finish with a Q&A session. You are welcome to bring your instrument with you to try out some techniques under Luciano’s supervision at the end.

This event is sponsored by D'Addario Woodwind and representatives from D'Addario will be on hand if you wish to speak to them on the day.
