Guangdong/Loughborough Media and Communication 2+2 BSc (Hons) degree
Our Guangdong University of Technology/Loughborough 2+2 BSc in Media and Communication builds international partnerships to enable the study of media and communication across cultures and languages, preparing you to understand today’s complex, interconnected media landscapes.
Based in Guangdong University of Technology for the first two years, you will develop advanced English language, presentation, media analysis and research skills, and a foundation in intercultural communication, translation, and linguistics.
Your two final years in Loughborough will deepen your understanding of both historical and contemporary developments across a number of key media sectors including the press, broadcasting, film, advertising and digital media. Key themes covered include political communication, misinformation, persuasion, social inequality, gender, and race, to name but a few.
On our 2+2 Media and Communication degree you will gain a wide range of specialist analytical and practical skills relevant to many jobs that involve working with the media and communication industries and beyond, where the knowledge and deep insight our degree provides makes a real difference.

What you will study
Our 2+2 BSc Media and Communication degree covers four key elements:
- Specialised English language and intercultural communication, translation and linguistics training, and key research methods and analytical skills to prepare you for media and communications-related professions
- Historical and contemporary developments across a broad range of media and communication sectors: digital and social media, television, film, advertising, news and journalism.
- Key theories that enable you to understand how media and communication contribute to the construction of meaning, how they influence our understanding of who we are, and how they shape modern societies.
- Hands-on training in social scientific analytical skills relevant to a variety of jobs in media and cultural industries, such as social media analysis, interviewing, focus groups, content analysis, surveys, and industry and audience data analysis.
Students on the 2+2 programme will study the same core modules as our UK-based Media and Communication BSc students, with the first two years based at Guangdong University of Technology providing additional language, professional, and analytical skills to prepare them to join in with student life at Loughborough.
