Why did you choose to study your programme at Loughborough University?
I was already at Loughborough University studying my bachelor’s degree in management prior to enrolling on the master’s course. I definitely wanted to do a master’s in human resource management while still being involved in the University lifestyle.
Loughborough University made sense to me because I was familiar with a lot of the great lecturers that I knew were going to be teaching on the master’s course, giving me a lot of confidence that this was going to be a high-quality programme.
Why did you choose to continue onto further study?
I wanted to improve my employability by becoming a specialist in human resource management, building on the generalist knowledge of my bachelor’s degree to improve my employability. Everyone seems to have a bachelor’s in the job market, but a master’s is far less common, giving me the opportunity to stand out from the crowd.
What do you love most about your course?
The class conversations are interesting to me, as everyone has a wide array of ideas and I enjoy sharing my thoughts with others.
I have found employment relations to be my favourite module because of how significant it has become for shaping work, alongside appreciating the delicate political nature of workplace issues.
What kind of support have you received?
All of my lecturers have been accessible and friendly when asking questions around coursework. They are very responsive and helpful whenever I have had any questions.
How do you find the social atmosphere/postgraduate community on campus?
I have built some close connections with postgraduate students and we often go out on social evenings every week to catch up.
How has your time at Loughborough developed your employability?
Loughborough Business School has hosted some interesting sessions on employability regarding job searching after our master’s degree. This has been a valuable use of my time to learn from others in prestigious careers.
What are your career aspirations after your MSc?
I plan to pursue a career in HR within a multinational corporate setting. I have actually been fortunate to already obtain a Graduate HR position at a major energy firm based in London that I will be working for after I graduate.
