Loughborough Lightning Head Coach Charles Baxter had this to say about Hines' departure:
“Considering the start to the season we’ve had, I’d be lying if I said Kayleigh’s decision to depart the club didn’t come as a shock.
Whilst I’m disappointed Kayleigh has decided to leave this great club, I understand that people have to make decisions that they feel are best for themselves.
Whilst we will miss Kay and wish her the best, I have full faith in my squad, and I am excited to see this incredibly talented, passionate and committed group of players take this club forward into what will be a new and exciting chapter for the club.
We would like to thank Kayleigh for her time and contribution to the club during her 2 years with Loughborough Lightning.”
With Hines' departure, however, the club are proud to announce that Sarah Woodbyrne has been appointed as Loughborough Lightning’s new club captain.
Baxter had this to say about Sarah’s appointment:
“Sarah is the perfect embodiment of the spirit, passion, and commitment that our club values, and we are excited for Sarah to lead the team into a new era of continued success on and off the pitch.”
New captain Sarah Woodbyrne said the following:
“Best wishes to Kay, and many thanks for everything she has done for this team.
I am prepared and excited to step up and take on the role of captain; we have a highly strong and ambitious squad that will continue to strive forward, and I am pleased to lead it.
We want to keep playing our best, win as many games as possible, and outperform ourselves from last season.”
