Tell us a little bit about yourself (hobbies, interests and background):

I grew up in Southwest London and have always enjoyed any team sport I could get my hands on, particularly hockey, rugby cricket and netball. When I'm not by the side of the pitch I am an avid attender of Hey ewe and love getting involved in different social events.

How did you first get involved in volunteering within sport at Loughborough?

The opportunity arose this year to move into a more coaching role within the Gaelic football club, I thought it would be a good challenge to develop my skills coaching a sport that was less familiar to me.

During your years at Loughborough what have you got involved in through volunteering within sport?

Undertaking qualifications, travelling around the region for games, accessing leadership courses.

What has your experience volunteering been like whilst at Loughborough?

Not without its challenges but gave me a platform to push myself and my coaching skills. Met some lovely like-minded people and learned about their skills and coaching styles that I can implement within my own practice.

How has being involved with Loughborough Sport helped you develop and progress (personally and professionally)?

Being in an environment that is so sport-focused meant that I have been able to access lots of CPD and learn from fellow coaches. There is a good opportunity to develop as a coach holistically through all the workshops and events put on by Loughborough Sport.

What’s the best advice you could give to a Loughborough student looking to get involved in volunteering & gain the most out of their university experiences?

Just dive in headfirst, pick up skills along the way and maintain a positive attitude throughout the challenges. You will meet lots of lovely people and will find it extremely rewarding.

Finally, what are your coaching aspirations?

I love seeing the girls having a great time at training and matches. Watching them develop week to week and form bonds with each other that I'm sure will carry throughout life beyond university.
