Academic skills

To obtain a good quality degree, you not only need a good understanding of your subject, but you also require a range of academic skills that help you to further develop and illustrate your knowledge.  If you wish to improve your academic skills so that you can achieve your dreams, then consider making the most of the face-to-face and online courses the Library offers.

Some of the skills covered by the Library's Get the Know-How courses include, but are not limited to:

These and other skills are featured on our Topics page with links to courses, advice sheets and online resources.

Academic practice is an online module designed in bite size chunks that you can work through at your own pace and at a time that suits you.  It is broken into eight units covering a range of topics.

Employers are looking for these skills too and they often call these graduate attributes or employability skills. The Loughborough Employability Award recognises the development of valuable employability skills through participation in the many extra-curricular activities across campus and through vacation work and volunteering.  The Library's Get the Know-How courses and the Academic Practice module feature as part of the Loughborough Employability Award.
