Do you use assistive or accessibility software?

To ensure a smooth upgrade process, we request that you notify us in advance of any accessibility or assistive software you currently use.

By providing this information early, we can conduct the necessary checks and ensure that your transition to the Windows 11 is seamless, with all required software ready for access on your upgrade date.

How to request access to assistive or accessibility software

Please take action as soon as possible.

  1. If you have accessibility or assistive software installed on your device, please contact the project team at support@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk to provide details about the software.
  2. Following a brief assessment of the software, we will determine if you need to submit information through the Staff Software Request system. If submission is required, the form will request the following details:
    • Full name of the software you are using
      • (g., JAWS, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Read&Write)
    • Version number of the software
      • (g., JAWS 2023, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 15, Read&Write 13)
    • Where the software was sourced from
      • (g., University Software Centre, purchased by your department or professional service, or sourced from elsewhere—please specify)
    • Any data, settings, or preferences that may need to be manually migrated as part of the upgrade
      • (If known, please specify in the comments section)
      • If you're unsure, please mention that you're unsure, and we will follow up as needed.

This information will help us prepare and deploy the necessary software to the Windows 11 service.

  1. Once we have confirmed your software is prepared, we will contact you to schedule your upgrade appointment.

Requesting software

We may need to add additional software packages to the service as they are identified. To address this, we've introduced a new software request process, allowing staff to request software that is not immediately available in the Software Centre.

The request form will ask for some basic information to help us understand your role and the operational requirements for the software. We’ll apply necessary security checks and ensure a safe, managed deployment.

The software request process may take up to 28 days. It is important to plan in advance to ensure a seamless transition to accessing the software on the Windows 11 service.
