Background
Dr Sohani is an academic expert and qualified educator with a strong commitment to continuous development. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Chartered Engineer, Member of the IEEE and IET Mentor. She is a member of the intelligent automation centre Loughborough. Her professional background includes active participation in several research projects through the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems Research (L-CAS) and the Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology (LIAT). She is regularly giving talks at different venues. Her teaching and learning experience are well-aligned with her vision of developing career-focused engineering programmes for developing graduates with product development and innovative sense to support businesses and organisations. She is internationally engaged with various non-profit organisations. She holds a PhD in Robotics and Biomedical Engineering from London South Bank University, UK, awarded in 2020, as well as an MEng degree in the same field from the University of Tehran. After completing her doctorate, she undertook a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the London South Bank University and University of Lincoln, contributing to advanced research initiatives. In 2021, she was appointed as a Lecturer in Robotics and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Lincoln, continuing to advance her academic and research career in these fields. She joined Loughborough University in July 2024 as a Lecturer in Robotics and Automation. To date, she has served as the primary supervisor for over 2 PhD students, 2 MRes/PGR students, more than 50 undergraduate project students, and over 15 MSc students. Additionally, she has acted as a second supervisor for more than 5 PhD students. She has also contributed as an External Examiner at Ulster University and as an Internal Examiner for several PhD candidates at the University of Lincoln. |
Dr Sohani's research expertise lies in the field of the application of Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Robotics (including assistive robotics, healthcare Robotics, and transformational technologies), implementation and control of medical and surgical robots. She has developed a strong research profile in the field of healthcare/medical technologies and imaging devices. She published several high-quality articles. She supervised a number of PhD and Masters by Research (MScR) students, BEng projects and course-based projects.
She is currently accepting postgraduate candidates, either self-financed or solicited scholarships from your Governments/other relevant entities, for both Master and PhD levels in the areas of Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics and Transformational Technologies, Image Processing for different applications, and Medical Imaging. She will assist with both proposal development and/or proposal consolidation to ensure your pursuit of higher education is smooth and on track from the outset.
