Dr Danny Buckley is a Workplace Learning Director at Loughborough Business School. Before transitioning to academia in 2016, Danny built an extensive career in sales, marketing and strategy across private sector organisations in the fashion, sports, and automotive industries.
Prior to joining Loughborough Business School, Danny led Apprenticeships and Executive Education at Leicester Castle Business School, where he successfully directed government-funded programmes such as Help to Grow: Management, corporate training, and management apprenticeships at different levels. During this time, Danny established strategic partnerships with local councils and chambers of commerce, delivering measurable impact and enabling more businesses to benefit from high-quality management education.
Danny is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Chartered Manager with the Chartered Management Institute, reflecting his dedication to leadership and professional excellence. He holds a PhD in Organisational Behaviour, with research interests around informal work, work-based learning, and qualitative research methods. His work seeks to amplify the voices of those navigating informal work environments or non-traditional career paths, offering actionable insights for both academic and professional audiences. Danny’s research has been published in respected academic journals and other outlets, further enhancing his contributions to academic scholarship and professional practice.
