Cheng-Han earned his MSc in Physics from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan in 2011 and completed his PhD in Photon Physics at the University of Manchester in 2024. Following his MSc, he worked as an R&D professional at Innolux Corporation, specialising in LCD manufacturing.

His MSc thesis, titled "A Study of Millimetre-Wave Signals Generated by Shaped-Pulse-Excited Photonic Transmitters," explored the use of fibre lasers to excite Uni-traveling-carrier photodiodes for millimetre-wave generation. His PhD thesis, "Investigating the Terahertz Radiation Emitted from Spintronic Structures," focused on high-power laser excitation of spintronic terahertz emitters, with applications in advancing the design of novel emitters. This work included the development of uniaxial magnetic anisotropy for field-free terahertz emission and tuneable multi-cycle terahertz pulse generation.

In September 2024, he joined the Emergent Photonics Research Centre at Loughborough University as a PDRA under the supervision of Prof Marco Pasquazi. His current research focuses on engineering magnetisation in spintronic emitters to achieve strong terahertz field amplitudes. His work integrates ultrafast lasers, optics, terahertz radiation, and ferromagnetic thin-film materials to push the boundaries of terahertz emitter performance and applications.
