Students studying Automotive Engineering MSc attended the annual, exclusive visit to Horiba MIRA, one of the world’s leading automotive testing facilities. The visit, that brings life to the Body Engineering module, provided a unique opportunity to observe real-world crashworthiness tests, an activity not typically carried out by a university, that will significantly enhance their understanding of crash dynamics and vehicle safety.

Our Department is playing a pivotal role in supporting elite cyclist and graduate Axel Dopfer in his attempt to break the German hour record on 18 September 2024.
Charlie Dobson said: “The rest of the boys did all the work for me really, I just had to get it round and I did very well with that I think and we secured it. These guys did the hard work and I had to roll with it. It was incredible.”

LUMotorsport achieves best finish since 2020 at Formula Student UK 2024

After a year of designing, manufacturing, and countless late nights, the LUMotorsports team travelled to Silverstone from July 17-21 to compete in Formula Student UK (FSUK) 2024. Their car, LFS24, launched to an audience of sponsors, alumni, and university faculty, looked impressive with its sloping nose, large wings, and wide sidepods in the iconic pink and purple of LUM.
