As we look ahead to 2025, I wanted to take some time to update you on the activities of the Alumni Advisory Board. I’d also like to wish you a very Happy New Year, and I hope you enjoyed the festive period.
Over the last year, members of the Board had updates from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nick Jennings CB FREng FRS, Chief Operating Officer, Richard Taylor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Professor Dan Parsons, and members of staff from marketing, careers, and research.
The AAB offers advice and opinion on projects that relate to the University Strategy, Creating Better Futures. Together, where it can, and in conversations with our guest speakers from across the University. Topics have included graduate careers support, student recruitment, and the present challenges faced by the Higher Education sector in the UK. You can find out more about this from the Vice-Chancellor.
Our Board Champions continue to support on a number of key areas – in particular vibrant and inclusive communities, and climate change and net zero. We’re looking this year at how we will progress our involvement in the partnerships strand of work at the University, and of course, we keep a close eye on how we can work together to support the sport, health and wellbeing strategic theme.
In September we welcomed three new members to the Board. They represent a wealth of experience across the University’s strategic themes and represent alumni with a range of backgrounds, too. They are already working hard to offer support both in and out of our Board’s quarterly meetings. I’m looking forward to working with them and the rest of the Board this year.
We continue to look at how the University can advance the offer to Loughborough alumni. I am continuing to work on the benefits package that is available to Loughborough graduates and am doing so with the support of a number of teams across the University. We hope to share an update with you soon.
Wishing you all the best for the year ahead,
Luke
