Role description: Global Alumni Ambassador

Role purpose

To better engage and support our communities where we have high populations of alumni (Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Malaysia, Nigeria, Singapore and the USA) ambassadors will serve as a key link between Loughborough University and the alumni communities where they live. 

They will act as a local point of contact and keep Loughborough graduates connected through alumni meet-ups, as well as supporting the University strategy through sharing career experience with students, supporting international student recruitment initiatives, or helping to develop research links. 

Duties & responsibilities 

To work with the University’s Alumni and Supporter Engagement team to:  

  • Act as a voice of the University’s alumni community. 

  • Be a point of contact for alumni and selected stakeholders. 

  • Organise, host and attend alumni events with fellow alumni, applicants and stakeholders, occasionally supported by the Alumni and Supporter Engagement team. 

  • Be an advocate of Loughborough University. 

  • Build and maintain a network of actively engaged alumni in your area to support Loughborough University initiatives. 

  • Support the Global Engagement team with their in-country work, such as recruitment fairs, pre-departure events and providing regional intelligence. 

  • Work alongside members of the Alumni Advisory Board where appropriate. 
  • Provide regular feedback reports. 

Person specification

We are looking for alumni who:
  • Studied a Loughborough University undergraduate or postgraduate degree or evidence of having studied at the University (Loughborough or London campus) for three months or more. 

     

  • Are based in one of the following countries: Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Malaysia, Nigeria, Singapore, or the USA. (This year there are vacancies in Mainland China, India, Nigeria,Singapore and the USA.)

  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Have the ability to network and develop good working relationships. 

  • Can work independently. 

  • Are committed to professionalism and excellence. 

  • Have energy and enthusiasm and a passion for Loughborough University. 

  • Can dedicate sufficient time to the post (expected commitment is 3 hours per month) and be willing to organise, host and attend Loughborough networking opportunities and events. 

Other information to note

  • This voluntary position is for a term of one year, starting on 1st January 2025, though the Alumni and Supporter Engagement team reserves the right to terminate this volunteering opportunity at any point. 

  • The position is based in-country and involves organising and supporting in-country activity. 

  • Full training and ongoing support will be provided by the Alumni and Supporter Engagement team.
