It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of Sarah Cunningham.
Sarah graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Loughborough in 2015. She pursued a career in art and exhibited her large-scale paintings in various international galleries.
Professor Rebecca Cain, Dean of Loughborough University’s School of Design and Creative Arts, said:
“We are deeply saddened to hear about the death of Loughborough graduate and talented artist Sarah Cunningham. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.”
Sarah received recognition from numerous galleries and organisations for her work.
She was the recipient of the Ali. H Alkazzi Scholarship Award 2019 – 2022 and she had the opportunity to take part in a research residency where she lived with the Kuna community in the indigenous province of Guna Yala, Panama with La Wayaka Current.
Her artwork explored vivid kaleidoscope-like imaging.
Lisson Gallery, who represented Sarah, shared a tribute to her on 5 November 2024, reflecting on her authentic and intuitive paintings and her talent and originality as an artist.
